The Rimac Nevera R represents a significant evolution of the record-breaking Nevera, engineered with a paramount focus on enhancing cornering performance and driver engagement. This new iteration is equipped with the next-generation Rimac All-Wheel Torque Vectoring (R-AWTV) system and advanced braking technology, complemented by a performance-oriented battery system. Delivering an astonishing 2,107 hp, the Nevera R is meticulously designed for superior cornering dynamics, while achieving straight-line acceleration even more rapidly than its predecessor, reaching 300 km/h (186 mph) in a mere 8.66 seconds.
Mate Rimac, Founder and President of the Rimac Group, CEO Bugatti Rimac and Rimac Technology, elaborated on the development philosophy: “When we developed the Nevera, an important part of the brief was that it should be a Grand Tourer. We made sure it was spacious, comfortable and finely balanced between thrilling and accessible. Ultimately what we achieved struck that balance perfectly; a high-performance record-breaking car that could set new benchmarks at the Nürburgring Nordschleife and be driven comfortably thousands of miles across continents. It was a watershed moment in automotive performance; the world’s first production all-electric hypercar, single-handedly leading a new generation. But we’re relentlessly tweaking to customers’ desires, and many were looking for a car that really emphasized the Nevera’s cornering ability, using all the advanced technology on-board. We responded with the Nevera R: all the DNA of the record-breaking Nevera, but lighter, faster and more focused.”
Rimac’s design and engineering teams undertook a comprehensive re-evaluation of the Nevera’s inherent characteristics, re-engineering key elements to position the R firmly within the hyper sports car domain. Featuring more focused driving dynamics, a performance-centric battery, increased power output, and enhanced braking capabilities, the Nevera R also embodies a distinct visual identity driven by performance and refined by meticulous design.
Characterized by clean surfacing and an emphasis on perfect proportions, the Nevera R presents a visually lower and sleeker silhouette, complemented by a forward-thrusting stance. This is accentuated by its wheel configuration, featuring 21-inch rear and 20-inch front wheels. The front fascia is engineered for both visual impact and aerodynamic functionality, employing horizontal lines to underscore aerodynamic efficiency, stance, and width. This design is the product of close interdisciplinary collaboration between designers and engineers, seamlessly integrating sensual surfacing with precise graphic elements into the front clam. The side profile of the Nevera R showcases a harmonious interplay of body color and carbon fiber, contributing to its timeless and dynamic aesthetic. The wheels feature novel designs with extended spokes to enhance their visual prominence and distinct color splits. The substantial fixed rear wing, in conjunction with an aggressive aerodynamic package including a new, larger diffuser, elevates downforce by 15% and aerodynamic efficiency by 10%. Equipped with new Michelin Cup 2 tires, overall understeer is reduced by 10%, lateral grip is increased by 5%, and lap times around the Nardo Handling Track are improved by 3.8 seconds. This combination of negative camber, superior grip from the new tires, and augmented downforce enables the Nevera R to redefine the boundaries of dynamic performance. Every component has been reconsidered through a performance-driven design philosophy, prioritizing agility and handling.
The Nevera R delivers amplified performance with an even greater emphasis on driver feedback. It offers sharper and more precise cornering due to the recalibrated next-generation All-Wheel Torque Vectoring (R-AWTV) system, optimized to leverage the full potential of its high-performance tires. Increased downforce contributes to enhanced stability and lateral performance, establishing a new benchmark for driving exhilaration on challenging B-roads and occasional track excursions. The traction control system has been revised to expand the capabilities of the R-AWTV, ensuring predictable behavior even in adverse wet conditions. Drift mode has been adjusted to accommodate the new tire characteristics, and the steering system has been refined for heightened responsiveness and crisper driver feedback.
Constructed around the next-generation 108kWh Rimac battery pack, the Nevera R harnesses state-of-the-art technology to deliver elevated power and efficiency within a new, lighter architecture. With 2,107 hp at its disposal, it surpasses the acceleration capabilities of the record-holding Nevera. The new EVO2 brakes, featuring carbon-ceramic discs with a silicone matrix layer, ensure superior stopping performance, improved cooling, and enhanced durability under demanding usage.
